Tracheobronchial Stenosis in Keutel Syndrome

ثبت نشده
چکیده

Keutel syndrome is characterized by brachytelephalangism, abnormal cartilage calcification, peripheral pulmonary stenoses, and midfacial hypoplasia. We report the first case from East Asia in an 8-month-old boy who had the typical craniofacial appearance characterized by midfacial hypoplasia with a broad depressed nasal bridge (Fig. 1). The distal phalanges of fingers were thickened. Auscultation revealed a grade 2-3/6 systolic murmur over heart, pronounced in the second and third intercostal space, and an inspiratory and expiratory stridor and wheezing over both lungs. Chest radiograph and computed tomography showed tracheobronchial cartilage calcification and tracheobronchial stenosis, confirmed on bronchoscopy. Echocardiography revealed peripheral pulmonary stenosis.

Recent investigations provided evidence that mutations in the ...

INTRAMURAL TRACHEOBRONCHIAL REMNANTS: A MISDIAGNOSED CAUSE OF CONGENITAL ESOPHAGEAL STENOSIS

In cases of congenital esophageal stenosis due to tracheobronchial remnants, symptoms of partial esophageal obstruction appear at the time of weaning or during early childhood. In the absence of esophagitis, esophagram combined with cinefluoroscopy demonstrates fixed stenosis of distal esophagus and appears to be diagnostic. Dilatation of rigid stenosis is invariably unrewarding and surgic...

Congenital oesophageal stenosis due to tracheobronchial remnants.

This paper presents the authors' experience with congenital oesophageal stenosis (= CES) in three patients who had CES due to tracheobronchial remnants. Difficulties with feeding started at 6-9 months of age, which corresponded with the introduction of solids. Contrast studies showed stenosis at the junction of the mid and distal thirds of the oesophagus. Limited resection of the oesophageal st...
